This week Studio Roosegaarde won the commission for an interactive light design in the parcs of Shanghai.
The coming months the design will be developed by Daan Roosegaarde and his team, including sessions with Philips Asia and lectures at the Tongji University in Shanghai.

Thanks to our knowledge in sustainable technologies we made our public artwork 'Dune' in such a way that 60 meter artwork only needs 60 WATT.


This year our interactive artwork Dune is exhibited in this 'postmodern container cave' at the entrance of 2010 Winter Cultural Olympics in Vancouver; as Dutch entry amongst works by artists such as Rafael Lozano-Hemmer and Janet Cardiff. 'DUNE' AT VICTORIA ALBERT MUSEUM
The much anticipated 'Decode: Digital Design Sensations' has opened at the Victoria Albert Museum in London. Both our classic interactive artworks Dune and Flow 5.0 are part of this exhibition which showcases the latest developments in digital and interactive design. December 8 till April 11, London.

Situated alongside the historic river Maas and spanning 60 meters, Dune 4.2 is an unique installation composed of hundreds of human interactive LED lights.
You are very welcome at the opening which includes a special dance performance and publication about the evolution of 'Dune'. Thursday October 29 at 7pm, Watertorenweg 200, ‘De Esch’ in Rotterdam.

We especially like the idea of powering an artificial landscape such as Dune via a natural energy source; creating a nice hyper, techno loop.

We are familiar with the multi purpose of artwork Dune but this surprised even our imagination. This fresh couple decided to have their wedding photos taken in our interactive landscape; and so it happened. Call it kitsch, call it love, for us it is a new, beautiful level of human interaction.


Greetings from Athens where a new Dune is installed in an old gasfactory for the new media show Synch 2007. Intervening with the existing building and blocking up several entrances a teasy yet sensual interaction becomes almost inevitable. Just the way we like it.

For Rotterdam 2007 City of Architecture Studio Roosegaarde is currently developing interactive landscape Dune 4.1. It will react to the sounds and motion of the people walking by in the pedestrian Maastunnel, Rotterdam NL.

IdN, an international design magazine from Hong Kong, just published an article about Dune 4.0. Part of this publication is a DVD including the movie of Dune 4.0.


NRC Next published an interview by Maartje Duin with Daan Roosegaarde about Dune 4.0. The article talks about Dune's futuristic potentials of individuality in public space. Published a few hours before the launch of Dune 4.0 it was perfect timing.

Yes, Dune 4.0 is ready and shall be waiting for your presence. This interactive landscape will be exhibited from the 22th of November at Montevideo, Amsterdam. Also featured as a part of this exhibition is a lecture evening on December 15th called 'The body as interface'. More specs at www.montevideo.nl.

Studio Roosegaarde is currently building Dune 4.0. Hundreds of fibers are being made for this interactive fusion of nature and technology. Although time is not our best friend it promises to become an amazing piece of work.

It's nice when things are getting together; hundreds of these transparant elements are ready to be used for the interactive landscape Dune 4.0 in Montevideo. The offical launch will be announced soon; stay tuned for more information.
